Mentors Needed for Big Brothers Big Sisters Program Launch

Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been changing children's lives by matching them with caring adults to guide them on a path to success. EMERGE Lakeland members now have an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a local child through this mentoring program that requires as little as one hour a week.

We are joining forces with United Way of Central Florida's Young Leaders Society and the Student United Way from Lakeland Polk State Collegiate High School to provide at least 10 mentors for a two-year minimum commitment to Oscar J Pope Elementary students. The program actually has a need for 29 mentors, so please encourage your friends and colleagues to join you!

The first step is attending an upcoming Big Orientation and Training Session (no RSVP required):
If you have any questions or would like to see more training date in November, please contact Angie Pattison at or (863) 220-1116. Once you complete the mandatory training, background check, and fingerprinting (provided by BBBS), you will be matched with a student (typically a third or fourth grader).
